Utah Trip

Supaman and I recently drove out to Utah for a few days, along with is aunt, uncle, and 3 cousins. It was a great trip. We went down too see Supa's youngest sister, as she had recently moved off to Utah to go to school. I'll try to recall as many of the details of the trip as I can:

**I'll post the pictures as soon as I get them off of Supa's phone...my camera was not cooperating. :)**

Tuesday, July 20/Wednesday, July 21:
We left East Texas an hour or so after we all got off work. We hit the road, 23 long hours of driving ahead of us. Well, this concept of time is well beyond the grasp of a 9-year-old. Within 2 hours of being in the car, we hear "are we there yet?" in varying flavors. Supa's uncle started out the trip, and drove till about 2 in the morning. Supa took over from there, driving through the wee hours of the night until it was light enough outside and his uncle was well-rested and able to drive again. We even gave Supa's 15-year-old cousin a chance to drive. He drove for about 120 miles in New Mexico where the road is straaaaaaaaaaaaight and looooooooooooong. We got into the valley at about 4 in the afternoon, got checked in, cleaned up, and headed to get something to eat with Supa's brother. After eating and going shopping for the necessary necessities, we dropped by APX to see Diddy and O'Mac at work, then finally got to get some real rest. Supa and I stayed with Diddy and his wonderful family. (Thank you guys for letting us crash at your place. You are the BEST!)

Thursday, July 22:
The day began with a trip to Orem to get FRESH Krispy Kremes of the line, along with a HUGE Betos breakfast burrito. (Supa's uncle had never been to Betos before, and I'm not sure he knew what he was getting himself into. The burrito was as big as my forearm!) We all had decided to go to the Seven Peaks water park today. Supa's brother and his wife came down from salt Lake again and went with us. It was a BLAST!! We all got some (much-needed) sun and played in the water all day long. Supa and I even went down a slide together! Both of us got hurt in some way or another going down the slides. Supa went down one slide, and ended up with his heels over his head when he slid out into the little pool at the bottom. Hurt his cabeza a little, but he survived to go on the next slide with me. :) We both got on a 2-person tube and went down a slide together. Of course, the pools at the bottom of the slides are not very deep. We came down the slide going a little bit faster than most people do, I suppose...as soon as our tube came off the slide at the bottom, it tipped to the left, and tossed both of us off of it. Well, since the pool is so shallow at the bottom, my left heel went straight to the bottom of the pool, followed by all of my weight, the weight of the water, and some of Supa's weight, too. (I was in the back of the 2-person tube.) Made my heel go numb for a while, and made walking a little painful over the next few days. After the day at the water park, we were all pooped and ready to go to bed. But instead, we went to our favorite restaurant in Provo: Tucanos. Oh, yummy...that's all that can be said. :) The rest of the night was spent planning the events of the next day, and then we all went to bed. :)

Friday, July 23:
Today was the day we had all decided to go to Salt Lake City. Since my heel was hurting as much as it was, I elected to stay behind and spend the day with Diddy's wife and their son, "P." Momma wasn't feeling well...just had mouth surgery before we arrived in the valley that week. P and I had fun all morning before momma woke up...Supa, his uncle, aunt, & cousins went to Betos again for breakfast and headed out to Salt Lake. They went to temple square, The Roof, the Joseph Smith building, and to top it all off, Crown Burger. Supa had wanted to go to Crown Burger ever since he saw it featured on "Man vs. Food" on the Food Network. Supa knows a challenge when he sees one. He says he burger was delicious...he came back home very full that night. :) He managed to LAUGH off some of those calories that evening, though...we all went to a comedy club in downtown Provo, Comedy Sportz. It's one of our favorite places to go in Utah now. There were 16 in our group. Supa & me, his uncle, aunt, & their 3 kiddos, supa's brother & his wife, Diddy and his wife & son, O'Mac and his wife & 2 kiddos. We laughed very hard and hung out with everyone outside the club for at least an hour after the show. It was a very fun night. Back home to get some rest. Tomorrow we head out back home to East Texas!

Saturday, July 24/Sunday, July 25:
Pioneer Day in the valley, and we are getting ready to go back home. We all slept in today, trying to get as much sleep as we can before hitting the road. We had heard about a restaurant in Provo that makes Cheese Steak sandwiches just like in Philly, so Supa had to go try them out. We all get to downtown Provo, and these cheese steaks are as good as, if not better than the ones in Philly! We were all very impressed...shortly after saying good-byes to everyone, we hit the road headed East at about 2 in the afternoon. 23 hours to go! :( It was a long night. Supa's uncle drove us out of the valley and on into New Mexico before Supa took over, about midnight or so. Supa drove until he couldn't hold his head up any more, then they switched out again. On the way home, we stopped at a gas station where Supa made an interesting purchase: a straw cowboy hat! :) It took him a while to finally come out of the store...had to make sure he bought the perfect one. We made it home with no mechanical problems and without killing each other. It was good to be home at last. :)

A HUGE thank you to Diddy and his sweet wife for opening their beautiful home to us. Another huge thank you to Supa's brother and his wonderful wife for coming down that week and spending time with all of us while we were able to be there. Also, thanks to Supa's uncle & aunt for letting us share the trip with them. We had such a great time, y'all...we can't wait to see all of our Utah friends/family again soon.
